Asus ZenFone Max M1 Design

The look of the Asus ZenFone Max M1 is a bit familiar. This will remind you of ZenFone Max Pro M1. Plastics are mainly used in making the phone. It is available in black and gold colors. Looking at the trend, Max M1 has a large screen of 5.45 inches, and it is equipped with 2.5 d perfume glass. Borders are quite wide, which looks right by looking at the price.

Selfie cameras, earpieces and proximity sensors have got place on the display. Asus ZenFone Max M1 has the build quality average for us. On the right is the power and volume buttons. The SIM tray has a place on the left side.

Asus uses 'Max' branding for a smartphone with its larger battery. As such, Asus Zenfone has been seen with Max M1. The shocking thing is that despite having a large battery, the company has been able to maintain the weight of this handset at 150 gms. After looking at the new phone from the back, the difference is clear from ZenFone Max Pro M1. There is a rear camera here. Fingerprint sensor position is great, especially considering the size of the phone. 3.5mm headphone jack is on top. Micro-USB port is at the bottom. Speaker grills have been given on either side. But the speaker is present in the right person.

Asus ZenFone Max M1 Specifications and Software

Asus has used Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor in this handset. This decision is a little strange, because it is an old chipset that has been a part of older smartphones like Moto G5 and Moto G5S . The clock speed of this Octa-core processor is 1.4 GHz. In this price range, we have seen processors like MediaTech Helio P22 and P23 , which are part of Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Infinix Note 5 , respectively.

Both have support for 4G and VoLTE in the SIM slot, but at any one time SIM can only be connected to 4G networks. A battery of 4000 mAh is provided.

The device comes with ZenUi based on Android Orio. You will find features like Mobile Manager, Weather, Sound Recorder, File Manager and Themes. Apart from this, Instagram, Facebook, Facebook Messenger and some Google apps in the handset are already installed on the phone.

Asus ZenFone Max M1 Performance, Camera and Battery Life

After the initial setup, we have realized some lag, but after a few hours this shortage has disappeared. We found that the Max M1 can be unlocked fast by the Face Recognition and Fingerprint Scanner. However, the old processor has been used in it. It also appears in the benchmark score. Zenfone Max M1's Benchmark scores come lower than the rest of the phone in this price range.

We played PUBG games in the phone. It ran on the lowest settings. The phone was definitely hot after playing this game for about half an hour, but the situation did not reach the inconvenience.

In our HD Video Loop Test, ZenFone Max M1 broke in 11 hours 32 minutes. If seen, it is slightly lower than the Radmi 6A and Redmi 6. Regularly watching Whatsapp Account, using Google Maps for over an hour and playing PUBG for about 40 minutes, at the end of the day, the phone had a little over 50 percent of the battery. There are several power saver modes in this phone that will help you increase the battery life of the phone.

Max M1 has a 13 megapixel primary camera with F / 2.0 aperture. This phase detection is equipped with autofocus. The front panel has an 8 megapixel sensor with F / 2.2 aperture. The camera app is the same as other Asus phones.

Photos taken from Max M1 to daylight were good. But in low light there was a decline in performance. At daylight the camera locked the focus according to our mind. There was a lack of detail and sharpness in the distant object. Max M1 shot some great macros. Separation between the subject and the background was excellent. The HDR mode has to be enabled manually. This mode helps in taking better pictures in bright conditions. HDR shots were better, but Max M1 forced us to wait after taking the shot. You will be able to take a portrait shot from the front and rear camera. But Edge Detection is weaker than average.

Max M1 details can not be captured in low light. Noise reduction in it is very aggressive, which causes a filter-like effect. You will be able to record up to 1080 pixels of video from both the Max M1 cameras. No stabilization is available, in which case you need to keep the hands very steady when recording the video.

Our decision

Asus has launched two strong phones in Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and Asus ZenFone 5Z in different price segments. But Asus Zenfone Max M1 does not offer as strong a claim. Old Hua Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 is much slower than the processor used in the rest of the phone with this price range.

Battery life, Asus Zenfone goes in favor of Max M1. Due to the large battery of 4000 mAh, the phone does not need to charge for about one and a half days. If the battery life is most important to you then Max M1 is a good option. Especially in the festive season, where this handset can be bought with a discount.
